The 2023 International Anti-Corruption Day theme is “UNCAC at 20: Uniting the World Against Corruption,” marking the UNCAC’s 20th anniversary.

History of International Anti-Corruption Day:

In resolution 58/4, adopted by the General Assembly on 31 October 2003, the Secretary-General requested that the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) act as the Secretariat of the Conference of States Parties to the Convention.

In addition, the Assembly designated 9 December as International Anti-Corruption Day to promote awareness of corruption and the role of the Convention in preventing it. This convention came into force in December 2005.
