Forbes: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has once again made it to the world’s 100 most powerful women.
Forbes: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has once again made it to the 100 most powerful women in the world in Forbes’ list of powerful women. This year she is at the 32nd position. The list includes figures from various fields such as politics, business, finance, media and entertainment, including influential women from around the world. 64-year-old Nirmala Sitharaman has been listed by Forbes for her contributions to politics and policy in India.
Nirmala Sitharaman was appointed as the Finance Minister of India in May 2019. Along with this, she is also the Minister of Corporate Affairs. Sitharaman has also served as a member of the National Commission for Women.
Other notable Indian women who have made their mark on Forbes include tech’s Roshni Nader at 60th place, cell’s Soma Mandal at 70th place and Kiran Mazumdar Shaw at 70th place.
According to Forbes, this year’s list focuses on girls’ access to education, their rights, safety and health protection in conflict areas such as Ukraine and Gaza, and gender-based violence and the ongoing global battle for climate policy.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen topped the list in 2023. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde is in second place.
US Vice President Kamala Harris is at the third position followed by Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Taylor Swift has won the fifth position in this list.
