The government has received a proposal, in which instructions have been given to limit UPI transactions. Under this, if you are making online payment of more than Rs 2000 to someone for the first time, then it can be delayed by 4 hours. This can prevent fraud from happening. However, it is believed that a delay of 4 hours can create a new problem in the way of online payment, because if you buy a grocery item or any other item worth Rs 2000 or more, then you will have to pay a delay of 4 hours to the grocery seller. After a one-time payment of Rs 5000, a maximum payment of Rs 50000 can be made in the next 24 hours. According to an RBI report, 13,530 fraud payments were involved in the total payments in the year 2022-23. Its total cost is Rs 30,252 crore. This fraud involves 49 percent or Rs 6,659 crore digital payments.
