Safety City of India: Pune, the cultural and educational capital of the country, ranks second in terms of safety. Kolkata is the safest city in the country. For three years in a row, Kolkata has achieved a ‘hat-trick’ of ranking first.
National Crime Records Bureau:
NCRB has released a report in this regard. The report titled ‘Crime in India 2022’ is based on data collected from 26 states and union territories and central agencies.
According to the report, Kolkata recorded the lowest number of cognizable crimes per lakh population among metropolitan cities. Kolkata reported 86.7 cognizable crimes per lakh population. This ratio is 280.7 in Pune, 299.2 in Hyderabad. Offenses registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Special and Local Laws (SLL) are considered cognizable.

Planned efforts are being made by the city police force to reduce crime in Pune. Various schemes are being implemented for the safety of women and to prevent juvenile delinquency. Efforts are being made to prevent criminal incidents through the efforts of vigilant Punekar and police.
