Not only this, he himself operated the controls of the plane during the flight.

PM Modi shared his experience of Tejas:

After the 45-minute flight, the Prime Minister also shared his experience of the time spent with Tejas. He wrote on the X, ‘Successfully flew Tejas. Proud of it. PM Modi said that this experience has increased his confidence in the country’s indigenous capabilities. This experience was incredible, which further increased my confidence in our country’s indigenous capabilities and gave me a renewed sense of pride and optimism about our national potential.

He further wrote that today while flying in Tejas, I can say with great pride that due to our hard work and dedication, we are no less than anyone in the world in the field of self-reliance. Heartiest congratulations to the Indian Air Force, Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) as well as all Indians.

Features of Tejas:

• Tejas MK-1A Light Combat Aircraft is an indigenously designed and developed fourth generation fighter aircraft.

• Tejas has many advanced features such as: beyond visual range missile capabilities, air-to-air refueling and air-to-ground weapons.

• Tejas is a fully armed light combat aircraft with one engine.

• This includes long-range ‘beyond visual range’ missiles that can shoot down enemy aircraft from a safe distance.

Many countries want to buy Tejas:

Many countries have shown interest in purchasing light combat aircraft Tejas. American company General Electric (GE) Aerospace had signed an agreement with HAL to jointly manufacture engines for MK-2 Tejas during the Prime Minister’s recent visit to America. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh had said in April this year that India’s defense exports have reached an all-time high of Rs 15,920 crore in 2022-2023. He had said that this is a remarkable achievement for the country.
