Vinesh Phogat was disqualified before the final of the women’s 50 kg wrestling event for being overweight. Earlier, the Indian women wrestler created history by defeating three of the best wrestlers in the world in a single day.

Vinesh Phogat became the first Indian woman wrestler to reach the finals of the Olympics, but Vinesh, who dreamed of winning a gold medal, got a big shock the next morning. Vinesh and Somveer Rathi first met in 2011. Both were working in railways. Earlier both were meeting only for work. However, friendship later turned into love.

Vinesh and Somveer’s eighth round was dedicated to ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao, Beti Khilao’.

Who is Somveer Rathi?
Somveer Rathi has been a wrestler himself. Somveer was born in Sonepat, Haryana. Rathi started wrestling from a nursery in Kharkhoda, Sonepat. He then reached the national level and won a bronze medal in the national competition. After that, Somveer started working in Railways.
