India, a nation grappling with issues of women’s safety and economic development, is also facing a growing crisis: the widespread consumption of pornographic content. At a time when women’s safety is being talked about all around in our country, people are saying when will women get freedom from crimes and criminals. At the same time, people in our country are searching for porn videos more than women’s safety on the internet. Between 10th August and 20th August, just last week, the average interest in searching porn videos on the internet in India has been 90.8 percent whereas the average interest in searching for jobs has been only 17.4 percent in our country and the average interest in searching for this rape and murder incident of Kolkata has been 30 percent, which means, in comparison to porn videos, the issue of jobs and women’s safety is nowhere in the internet search history.

The most shameful thing is that in this country people are searching for the rape video of the Kolkata incident on the internet and people searched on Google by typing full story video and there are many people who searched for the picture of the victim doctor and we are ashamed to say that some people are also searching on the internet by typing porn video along with the name of this victim female doctor.
Government Response On Porn
The Indian government has blocked or banned more than 800 websites related to pornography. You cannot see them because these websites are blocked. But despite this, even today, about 90 percent of people using smartphones in our country watch porn videos on their mobile phones. Apart from this, after America and Britain, the highest number of porn videos are watched in our country.
Age Demographics
You will be shocked to hear that in India, 44% of youth between 18 and 24 years are watching porn videos on their mobile phones at least twice a week. After this, 41% of people between 25 and 34 years, 6% of people between 35 and 44 years, and 3% of people between 45 and 54 years are watching porn videos in our country. This means that the youth between 18 and 34 years of age in our country, who should think about jobs and search technology on the Internet, most of them are currently searching for porn videos.

We had formed a censor board to keep obscenity away from our films and even today every film has to get a certificate from that censor board. The censor board decides whether this film is good for our country’s society or not, according to that its certification is done in which they say that this film will be adult, this film can be watched by children of 13 years or 11 years or not, or the whole family can watch it, but there is no concrete law and guideline in our country regarding pornographic videos available on the internet. There is no concrete law and guideline regarding what is being shown to you on OTT.
The Extent of the Problem
Porn videos are now becoming a big reason in rape cases, so the big question today is whether porn videos can be a big role behind the rapes in our country, because now a large number of people are watching these porn videos. In the Kolkata incident, the 33 year old man who committed this act watched a violent porn video before committing the rape, meaning he was watching violent porn videos. Before committing this rape, this accused too was addicted to watching porn videos. The psychological test that CBI did on this accused also found out that this accused is like an animal from inside who neither regrets this incident nor has any remorse for himself and he is a person with sexual perversion.
Gang Rape

Even then, the culprits in that case had watched porn videos before committing the gang rape. In the 2018 Dehradun gang rape case, all the accused had come after watching porn videos. Impact of pornography on Indian society
And today our request to the government is that if it wants to stop crimes against women, then it will have to stop these porn videos from spreading like a virus in our society, and the society will also have to think in which direction it is going. Well, in mature democratic countries, mature societies, you cannot impose any kind of restrictions on people. People say that what will we eat, what will we wear, what kind of lifestyle will we live, which religion will we follow, what kind of lifestyle do we want to live, what kind of lifestyle will we keep and what do we want to watch, we do not want any orders on this, we do not want any interference of the government in this, we are grown-ups, we are adults, if we know whom to vote for, then we also know what to watch on our mobile phones, and many countries respect this, and say that we give you full permission to what you want to eat, what you want to wear, what you want to watch, you see, but we feel that our country is still in that situation. Our society has not yet reached that stage where people are given complete freedom to watch it because our society is not that mature and that is why a large number of people in our society are slipping from their feet and this is going to be the biggest challenge for India in the coming times.
