Android Apps: Security researcher ESET has detected 12 Android apps that were stealing user data.

These days your smartphone has become more valuable than your home safe. This happened not because of the price of the phone, but because of the data in it. Your phone contains your private photos, WhatsApp messages, banking details and much more. So what if some apps in your phone are stealing this data?

Security researcher ESET has detected 12 such Android apps, which were stealing user data. 11 of these apps are messaging apps, while one is a news app.

Trojan virus

All these apps used to release Remote Access Trojan (RAT) code into smartphones. It is known as VajraSpy. This virus enters the phone along with apps, and spies with the help of app permissions. ABP has published a news about this.

This virus can steal users’ contacts, files, call logs, SMS etc. Some apps can even steal users’ WhatsApp messages. These apps save a copy of these messages to you without your knowledge. With the help of some of these apps, cybercriminals can even record phone calls, operate the phone’s camera without your knowledge.

Google took action

All these apps were very popular in India and Pakistan. These apps are available on Google’s play-store. Now Google has deleted these apps. Those who have these apps already downloaded in their phone will have to uninstall them manually.
