Six national parties across the country have declared their total income for the previous financial year (2022-23) which is Rs 3077 crore. The BJP has a big share in this and their income is Rs 2,361 crore, according to the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR). A total of six national parties have declared their total income of which BJP’s share is 76.73 percent.
In terms of income, Congress (452.375 crores) is at the second position and compared to other parties, their share is 14.70 percent. Apart from Congress and BJP, Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), National People’s Party (NPP) and Communist Party of Marxism (CPM) have declared their income.

ADR had sought some information from State Bank of India regarding electoral bonds through Right to Information. It was revealed that these political parties got Rs 2,797.356 crores by breaking bonds. National parties alone have earned Rs 1,510.62 crore through these bonds. Between 2021-22 and 2022-23, BJP’s income has increased by 23.15 percent.
Congress, AAP spending
While the total income of Congress is Rs 452.375 crore, their expenditure is Rs 467.135 crore. Here their expenditure is more than 3.26 percent of income. The total income of Marxist Communist Party is Rs 141.661 crore and their expenditure is Rs 106.067 crore (74.87 percent). AAP’s income is Rs 85.17 crore and its expenditure is Rs 102.051 crore. Their expenditure is 19.82 percent more than their income.
AAP’s income increased
AAP’s income has increased by 91.23 percent in the last two years. Only the National People’s Party (NPP) in the North-East has been given the status of a national party and its income has also increased.
Earnings by breaking bonds
BJP has received Rs 1294.15 crore through electoral bonds, Congress Rs 171.02 crore and AAP Rs 45.45 crore.
