India’s Medal Hopes Dashed

India’s Olympic journey in Paris got off to a promising start with shooter Manu Bhakar clinching the bronze medal on July 27. However, the subsequent days brought disappointment. Ramita Jindal narrowly missed out on a medal, finishing in seventh place, while Arjun Babuta had to withdraw from the competition after securing fourth position.

Medal Tally

Looking at the medal table, Japan is currently at the top position with a total of 12 medals including 6 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals. France has won more medals than them i.e. 16, but they are second with 5 gold medals. Apart from this, they has won 8 silver and 3 bronze medals. China is third with 12 medals including 5 gold, 5 silver and 2 bronze. Then Australia (5 gold and 4 silver) and South Korea (5 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze) are in the top five.

USA has won 20 total medals with 3 gold, 8 silver and 9 bronze. Great Britain, Italy, Canada, Hong Kong are in the top ten after winning 2 gold medals each. In this list, the Indian team has slipped to 26th position with 1 bronze medal. India was ranked 22nd yesterday.
