Aditya L1 captures strongest solar eruption : Last week on May 10 and 11, Earth was hit by a powerful solar storm. Due to this storm, we could see a panoramic view in the sky at various places on earth. But the situation was different for ‘Aditya’ at L-1 point in space and Chandrayaan-2 orbiting the moon. These ISRO satellites were hit hard by the solar storm. But ISRO has clarified that it is in good condition and it has also taken photos of explosions on the sun.

The largest Solar Eruption in two decades; Dangerous photos captured by 'Aditya L1' and 'Chandrayaan-2'

According to ISRO scientists, these explosions on the Sun produced M and X level solar waves. Due to this, the Earth was hit by a solar storm. It was the largest solar storm in two decades. A similar big solar storm that occurred earlier in 2003 is called ‘Halloween Storm’.

Scientists around the world have been baffled by this massive solar storm that occurred after about 21 years. The geomagnetic index of this storm reached 9. This is the highest level of solar storms. The day had not started in India when this solar storm hit the earth. ISRO has also said that we have been safer because of this. However, many places in America were affected by this storm.

Which device of aditya L1 took images?

The ASPEX payload on the Aditya satellite clicked pictures of the Sun. It clearly shows the speed of solar waves, temperature and plasma flow. The spectrometer on this payload was of great benefit. The Solex instrument on the Aditya L1 has also photographed several X and M class flares. Additionally, Chandrayaan-2’s orbiter has also captured photos of the solar storm.
