Henley Passport Index 2024 has been announced. France has got the first place in this index. While India’s position has dropped by one digit compared to the previous year. India was ranked 84th in the index in 2023, but this year it has come down to 85th.
Henley’s report comes as a bit of a surprise, as till last year Indian citizens could travel visa-free to 60 countries. Currently, Indian citizens can travel to 62 countries without any visa. At present, the picture of Indian passports being accepted all over the world.
According to the strength (reliability) of the passport, the Henley Passport Index is determined. In 2024, the passport of France has won. French citizens have visa-free access to 194 countries. Apart from France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Singapore and Spain have also made it to the top list.
Maldives
Pakistan has maintained its position. Pakistan is ranked 106th in this list. Bangladesh’s position has also dropped by one digit. Bangladesh’s position has moved up from 101 to 102. Neighboring Maldives has a stronger passport than India. Maldives is ranked 58th in this list. Maldivian citizens have visa-free access to 96 countries.
Iran, Malaysia, Thailand have recently decided to grant visa-free entry to Indian citizens. Meanwhile, India has fallen in this list. Meanwhile, the Henley Passport Index publishes this list based on data from the International Air Transport Association. It includes passports of 199 countries.
