An international framework for the use and regulation of ‘Generative AI’ was inaugurated today by the Prime Minister of Japan, Fumio Kishida. This is considered to be the first global effort to control this rapidly expanding technology.

Kishida announced the plan at an event organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development in Paris. At this time, Kishida said, “Generative AI has the potential to further enrich the world.” However, there is a possibility of spreading wrong information through this technology and that is the dark side of it.

Last year, Japan announced the ‘Hiroshima AI Process’ to draw the world’s attention to the issue of controlling AI. It called for implementation of a code of conduct and guidelines for companies developing AI. This framework, which is not binding on anyone, was accepted by 49 countries. Now the international plan has been announced as its next phase. Sources said that the provisions of this plan will be released soon.
