Google Pay App Shutting Down

The Google Pay app is widely used in India, Singapore and the US. But now the company has taken a big decision regarding this app. Google is now going to shut down the old Google app.

The ‘GPay’ app that appears on the Android homescreen is an old version used for payments and finance. However, people in India need not worry about this as the company has made this decision for the US.

According to reports, GPay will be shut down in the US from June 4, 2024. People using GPay in India and Singapore need not worry as GPay will work smoothly in these countries.

In a blog post, the company announced that to simplify the Google Pay app experience, the US version of the standalone Google Pay app will no longer be available from June 4. The service will be discontinued in the US, but will continue in India and Singapore.

Google has also stopped peer-to-peer payments as the app will be shut down. According to the blog, after the Google Pay app is shut down in the US, American users will no longer be able to send money to other people through the app.

The company has advised Google Pay users in the US to switch to the Google Wallet app. Google says that it will continue to provide updates to its users from time to time.
