Corona JN.1: There has been a huge increase in the number of corona patients in Kerala for the past few days. The first case of highly infectious variant of corona virus JN1 has also been detected. Against this backdrop, the Union Health Ministry has warned all states and Union Territories to be vigilant. Total number of people have died in the country due to Corona on Sunday. Similarly, now a new JN1 variant patient has been found in India. Union Health Secretary Sushant Pant, in a letter sent to all states and Union Territories on Monday, mentioned the increasing subtypes of the Corona virus and said that this is the reason why the infection is increasing.
Corona JN.1: Infections of the new strain of corona JN.1 are increasing. Corona has reared its head once again. This new type of Corona has spread in 38 countries including America, Singapore and Europe. Even in India, a woman from Kerala has been exposed to this type of infection. The JN.1 type is the successor to the Omicron type. He was found in America for the first time in September this year. In genome sequencing, it was found to be a subtype of the BA2.86 variant that is considered dangerous.
Corona is spreading rapidly in countries like America, Singapore, Spain, Portugal and Netherlands. Especially in Singapore, 250 to 300 cases are coming up every day. More than 56 thousand cases have been reported here in the last week. Similarly, in India, the number of corona patients is increasing every day. A total of 260 corona patients were found in India on Monday.
5 deaths due to corona in India, 260 new patients
260 new corona patients were found in the country on Monday. So the number of patients undergoing treatment has reached 1828. Apart from this, 4 deaths were reported in Kerala and 1 in UP on Sunday. According to the data released by the Union Health Ministry, the total number of deaths due to Corona in India has now reached 5 lakh 33 thousand 317, while the total number of infected patients has crossed 4.50 crore. Interestingly, the recovery rate in India is good. According to a PTI report, 4 crore 44 lakh 69 thousand 931 people have recovered from the disease so far, with a fatality rate of 1.19 percent.
What are the symptoms?
The JN1 variant of corona is known to evade the immune system. It has the same features as the previous variant. These include fever, runny nose, headache, sore throat, stomach ache. Infection with the JN1 sub-variant increases gastrointestinal problems. However, the US Centers for Disease Control and Regulation has clarified that there is no evidence that JN1 is more dangerous than other variants. It is also being said that although the JN1 variant is very dangerous, there will be less chance of sudden deterioration of the condition, so there will be no time to be admitted to the hospital.
Previous vaccinations will be beneficial
According to experts on Corona, vaccination enables our immune system to fight against different variants. The JN1 variant was first spotted in the US in September. A total of 7 cases of JN1 were detected in China on December 15. Only after this, it was expressed that the prevalence of this variant may increase.
WHO on Alert
The World Health Organization has issued an advisory following an increase in cases of new sub-types of Covid. It has asked many countries including India to be vigilant and follow the Covid protocol. The World Health Organization is also seeking data related to Covid from other countries. After the decline in Covid cases, there are only 43 countries in the world that are providing data on people who have died due to Covid to WHO, besides, there are only 20 countries that are providing data on new cases of Covid.
