Cricket World Cup 2027: ICC ODI World Cup 2023 is over. The next ODI World Cup will now be jointly organized by South Africa and Zimbabwe after 4 years in 2027. This will be the second chance for both these countries. The last time the World Cup was held here was in 2003. Namibia will make its debut as the host nation.

When and where will the next ODI World Cup be played:

The ICC ODI World Cup 2023 has come to an end. Australia won the World Cup title for the sixth time by defeating India by 6 wickets in the final played at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Now the next ODI World Cup will be played after 4 years in 2027. This will be the 14th edition of the tournament. This tournament organized by ICC is going to be held in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia during 2027.

Qualification for Cricket World Cup 2027:

14 teams will play in the World Cup to be held in South Africa and Zimbabwe in 2027. South Africa and Zimbabwe are co-hosts. In such a situation, being the tournament host country, it will qualify directly. Apart from this, the top eight teams in the ICC ODI rankings will qualify directly. The remaining four spots will be determined through the Global Qualifier Tournament.

Namibia will also host for the first time:

The tournament will be co-hosted by Namibia for the first time, but their participation is not guaranteed. This is because Namibia is not a full ICC member. That means Namibia will have to follow the standard qualification rules to secure its place in the tournament. Namibia has not participated in the ODI World Cup since 2003.

Cricket world cup 2027 format:

The format of the tournament will have two groups, each of which will have seven teams. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six round. After that there will be semi-finals and finals to decide the final winner. In the group stage, each team will face all the other sides in their respective groups once. This format is reminiscent of the 2003 version. The 2027 edition will again introduce a modified version of Point Carry Forward (PCF). This method was used in the 1999 World Cup.

ODI World Cup 2031 will return to India:

again in 2031 The ICC ODI World Cup will once again return to India in 2031. This edition of the World Cup will be jointly organized by India and Bangladesh.
