Digital Detox Initiative by Government
Nowadays we are completely surrounded by technology and gadgets. Overuse of social media, deepfake technology, online scams can be a danger to us. Not only this, excessive use of gadgets like mobile-tablet or laptop can also affect mental health. This is why the Karnataka government has now started the ‘Digital Detox’ campaign.
According to the Karnataka government, the campaign will be implemented in collaboration with the All India Game Developers Forum. The most emphasis will be on gaming and social media. State IT Minister Priyank Kharge gave information about this.
Young people are most at risk
Kharge said that we will focus on using technology responsibly. The overuse of technology is having the biggest impact on the mental health of the youth. People are becoming more dependent on the digital world. Also, the youth is seen to be largely glued to the screen. Therefore, in this digital detox campaign, more attention will be given to the mental health of the youth.
Detox Center
Karnataka Government is considering setting up online and offline detox centers. It will guide you on how to make good use of screen-time, how to take a break from social media, how to avoid excessive use of gadgets.
For this, the Karnataka Government, AIDGF and National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences (NIMHANS) will be jointly conducting the campaign. The campaign will work to promote digital wellness.
