Also, due to this, about 25 crore Indians in the country who were spending their days in various types of poverty have come out of this situation and their standard of living has improved, according to the report of Niti Aayog.

Uttar Pradesh in the lead

According to the report, Uttar Pradesh has recorded the largest reduction in poverty. In the last nine years, 5.94 percent of people here have come out of poverty. Submitting a report based on estimated figures

The report also said that the rate of decline in the poverty ratio from 2015-16 to 2019-21 (10.66 percent annual decline rate) was much faster than the period from 2005-06 to 2015-16 (7.69 percent). Also all the 12 indicators of MPI (Multidimensional Poverty Index) have recorded significant improvement throughout the study period. To assess the poverty level in the year 2013-14 for the current scenario (ie for 2022-23), estimated figures have been used due to data limitations for this particular period.

At the same time, the report of Niti Aayog predicts an important thing that as a result of this reduction in multidimensional poverty, India will reduce poverty by half before 2030, through which the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) can be achieved.

Claims of change due to ‘these’ schemes

Notable initiatives like Poshan Abhiyan and Anemia Free India have significantly increased health care facilities, leading to a significant reduction in deprivation. Operating one of the largest food security programs in the world, the targeted public distribution system under the National Food Security Act has provided food grains to the rural and urban population by reaching 81.35 crore beneficiaries.

Also, implementation of transformative campaigns like Mata Arogya, distribution of clean cooking fuel through Ujjwala Yojana, improved electricity coverage through Saubhagya and Swachh Bharat Mission and Jal Jeevan Mission together have improved the standard of living of the people and overall health of the people has also improved. Apart from this, flagship programs like Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana have played an important role in financial inclusion and provision of safe housing to the underprivileged, the Niti Aayog report said.
