In the year 2020, the state government has implemented dress code in all government offices in the state. Not only this, the dress code is applicable in many temples, gurdwaras, churches, mosques and other places of worship, private establishments, schools, colleges, courts, police etc. in the country. On the same lines, meetings were held at 11 places in Maharashtra Temple Federation district to preserve the sanctity, manners and culture of temples.

Sunil Ghanwat, coordinator of the Maharashtra Temple Federation informed in a press conference that in these meetings, the trustees of 47 temples in the district decided to implement the Indian Culture dress code in those temples.

Ghanwat also appealed to the devotees to follow the Indian culture and protect the sanctity of the temple, not to wear provocative and inappropriate clothes while coming to the temple.

Similarly, the boards have been installed in the facades of 20 temples in the district. Sri Kankaditya Temple at Kasheli (N.Rajapur), Mahakali Temple at Adivare, Sri Vitthal Ram Panchayat Temple, Swayambhu Sri Kashi Vishweshwar Devasthan, Village Deity Sri Navalai Devi Temple at Nachane, Sri Ram Temple at Pawas, Famous Village Deity Sri Juna Kalbhairav Temple of Chiplun, Vindhyavasini Temple.

It has also been decided to implement dress code in 47 temples of the district including Ramvardayini temple etc. Earlier, this resolution was passed in the state level Maharashtra Temple-Trust Council held in Jalgaon in February 2023 for the protection of temples and religious traditions. Its proceedings are carried out in the temples of the state.

Promoting culture by wearing Indian clothing will promote our culture and will also awaken self-esteem in the youth and boost the industry of traditional clothing compared to the West. Rural economy will be strengthened. Ghanwat also said that if we want to absorb pureness in the temple to a greater extent, our behavior and attire should be Sattvik.
