People are being informed about Modi’s guarantee and the work done by Modi through an advertisement called ‘Vikasit Bharat’ on WhatsApp. At present, the code of conduct has been implemented, yet the Election Commission received many complaints regarding government advertisements on WhatsApp. Therefore, the Commission has ordered to stop sending these advertisements through WhatsApp.
The Election Commission said on Thursday that the Commission has directed the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology to immediately stop the ‘Viksit Bharat’ messages being sent to the public on WhatsApp. Also, the Commission has also sought a compliance report from the IT Ministry in this matter.
Meanwhile, the commission said that we have received many complaints in this regard. In this, he said, “At present, government advertisements are being sent to people’s phones despite the implementation of model code of conduct across the country.”
Responding to the Election Commission’s order, the IT Ministry said, “Letters and messages regarding these advertisements were sent before the implementation of the code of conduct. But these messages may have been received late because people’s mobile phones may not have proper network access.
