A press conference will be held in this regard at 3 pm and more information will be given in it. The study conducted by the Ramnath Kovind committee has been approved in the cabinet meeting.

It is known that two to three recommendations have been made by the Kovind Committee in this report. One nation one election may require amendment of laws and constitution. It is reported that this issues have been raised in this report.

‘One nation one election’ simply means holding Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the country at the same time. Citizens can vote for both these elections simultaneously. At present, elections to the Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha are held every five years at different times in the country.

So far three committees have been formed for ‘One Nation One Election’. The fourth committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Ram Nath Kovind and there is a question whether the committee will submit its report within 15 days.

Former President Ram Nath Kovind was entrusted by the Central Government to verify the feasibility of ‘One Nation One Election’. Kovind had reiterated this concept many times before. Speaking in the joint session of Parliament on January 29, 2018, Kovind had expressed concern about the ongoing elections. He said that this is also adversely affecting the economy and development. On 23 July 2022, Kovind stepped down from the post of President. He had made an appeal in this regard during the lunch organized for all parties.
