A big decision has been taken regarding the National Film Awards. The prize money and the names of the two categories of awards have been changed. As per the changes suggested by the committee, the name of ‘Indira Gandhi Award for Best Debut Film by a Director’ has been changed to ‘Best Debut Film by a Director’. While the ‘Nargis Dutt Award for Best Feature Film on National Integration’ will now be recognized as ‘Best Feature Film Promoting National, Social and Environmental Values’. In this category, award categories for social issues and environmental protection are combined.
The prize money has also been changed
The prize money, which was earlier shared between the producer and the director, will now be given to the director only.
A member of the National Film Awards committee told PTI, “The committee had considered changes during the Corona period. The decision to make these changes has been taken unanimously.”
