Munjya Review: Munjya with a good blend of horror-comedy

Munjya Review

Aditya Sarpotdar, who made his directorial debut with the Marathi film Uladhal, has done some excellent films so far. Some of his films like Narbachi Wadi, Zombivli have been well received by the audience. After a strong performance in Marathi cinema, now he has turned to Hindi. He has directed Munjya starring Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik. The film is out now. The story of this film is based on a legend of Konkan. The story starts from Chetukwadi, a small village here. A ten-year-old boy named Gotya falls in love with Munni, who is older than him. He wants to marry her. But when Gotya’s mother realizes this, she beats him with a cane and knocks him out. After that Gotya takes his sister under a tree in Chetukwadi to get his love. There he thinks of getting Munni by sacrificing his sister with the help of Tantramantra. But there was a clash between him and his sister. Gota dies in it. Then his restless spirit becomes a ghost and stays on that tree. A few years later his descendant Bittu (Abhay Verma), his mother (Mona Singh) and grandmother (Suhas Joshi) come to the same village. Then Bittu is terrorized by a ghost named Munja. Because this Munja wants to find Munni by scaring Bittu and harassing him. Because we want to marry Munni and fulfill our insatiable soul. Then Munja’s eye falls on Bittu’s girlfriend Bela (Sharwari Wagh). Then what happens to Bela…does Bittu find Munni….how does Munja further trouble Bittu..what decision does Bittu take…you have to watch this movie to answer these questions. Director Aditya Sarpotdar has given this story a good touch of comedy along with horror.

The special thing is that the CGI i.e. computer generated image of Munja is the main character in the film. Created with the help of graphics, visual effects and animation, this character instills fear in your heart from the very first look. Then this fear in our mind as the plot progresses

The intensity increases and the curiosity of what will happen next is stretched. Director Aditya Sarpotdar has built this story well. This is a horror movie that is thrilling and scary. Abhay Verma, Sharwari Wagh, Mona Singh, Satyaraj, Suhas Joshi. All the actors like Ajay Pulakar, Rasika Vengurlekar, Taranjyot Singh, Bhagyashree Limaye have handled the acting well. Sharwari Vagh has played the character of Bela well. She not only looks beautiful on screen but also acts and dances well. From that, it seems that she will take a big leap in the Hindi film industry. Abhay Varma captures the bearing of Bittu’s role perfectly.

Bittu’s various gestures and his innocence in the role have been beautifully portrayed on screen by him. Cinematographer Saurabh Goswami has shown his artistry beautifully in the sea and forest scenes. This is a horror movie. So there is no doubt that its background music will be powerful. Such is the case with this film. The background music of this film has become powerful. So the film has got a good hold. There are some aspects of this movie that are depressing. At some places, the makeup has gone awry. Also, the film has a good grip from the beginning, but at some points there is a doubt that the director loses his grip on the screenplay. But at the same time he recovers and the plot moves fast. This story of Munja is a legend of Konkan and this story has many twists and turns. That keeps the film riveting.

Talking about the music of the film, the item song ‘Taras’ by Sharwari Vaughn has been beautiful. Its composer is Sachin-Jigar. Importantly, the climax hints at a sequel to this horror-comedy. There have been some horror-comedy movies like Ruhi, Stree, Bhedia in Hindi cinema and it has been well appreciated by the fans. This movie is also a good blend of horror-comedy.
