In October 2023, Apple sent a similar notification to its users. Many political leaders of the country received this notification, including senior Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, Aam Aadmi Party MP Raghav Chadha and Trinamool Congress MP Mahua Moitra also received this notification on their iPhones. The notification at the time warned of government-sponsored cyber attacks.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court had set up a technical committee in 2021 to deal with allegations of unauthorized spying allegedly by the Pegasis software developed by the Israeli company NSO Group. The committee was directed to investigate the allegations against Pegasis.
Then in August 2022, this committee gave its report that 29 iPhones have been checked. No spyware found. But the malware has been detected in five of these iPhones.
Meanwhile, Apple noted that according to public reports and research by civil society organizations, technology companies, and journalists, in some exceptional cases governments lease spyware from private companies, such as Israel’s NSO Group, which developed spyware called Pegasus. which was used in many countries.
