Medicine Price Reduction
The government has given a big relief to the common man. It has been decided to reduce the prices of 70 essential medicines, including painkillers and antibiotics. This will make the treatment of many diseases cheaper for common people.
In the recent meeting of the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), it was decided to reduce the prices of many essential medicines. The government announced the decision at the NPPA meeting this week.

NPPA regulates the prices of essential medicines sold in the country, which are used by common people to treat various diseases. In the meeting, it was decided to reduce the prices of 70 medicines and 4 special medicines.
Which drugs are going to be cheaper?
In this meeting, NPPA decided to reduce the prices of 70 medicines, including medicines for pain relief, i.e. painkillers, antibiotics, medicines for fever, infection, diarrhoea, muscle pain, diabetes, blood pressure, heart and many other diseases.
Earlier in the month of June too, the government had reduced the prices of many essential medicines. NPPA had reduced the prices of 54 commonly used drugs and 8 specialty drugs in its 124th meeting held in June.

Prices of antibiotics, multi vitamins, diabetes and heart related drugs were reduced last month. Apart from this, the medicines used for the treatment of diseases like cancer were also made cheaper.

Reducing the prices of essential medicines will directly benefit crores of people in the country. Millions of people buy many medicines to treat various diseases. The government’s decision comes nearly two weeks after the budget was presented last month. The government was expected to take initiatives towards making the prices of medicines affordable.
