The 11th match of the Indian Premier League 2024 tournament was played between Lucknow Super Giants vs Punjab Kings. Lucknow Super Giants won the match by 21 runs at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

21-year-old fast bowler Mayank Yadav played an important role in this victory of Lucknow. He took 3 wickets for 27 runs in 4 overs in this match. He was also awarded the man of the match award for his performance. Interestingly, this was Mayank’s first IPL match.

Meanwhile, not only was his performance the talk of the match, but his pace was the most talked about. Mayank consistently bowled at 140 to 150 kmph.

He also bowled the fastest ball of the season. He bowled at 155.8 kmph against Punjab captain Shikhar Dhawan. So it started trending on social media as well.

He first took the wicket of Jonny Bairstow to break Punjab’s opening pair. Bairstow was dismissed for 42 off 29 balls. Interestingly, Punjab was close to 100 runs only in 10 overs, but then Mayank’s spell put the victory out of Punjab’s hands.

He also dismissed Prabhasimran Singh, who scored 19 off 7 balls after Bairstow, and also cleared Jitesh Sharma. Chasing the challenge of 200 runs after his wickets, Punjab could manage only 178 for 5 in 20 overs.

Meanwhile, many may not know who Mayank is. But Mayank has attracted attention many times before while playing domestic cricket. Mayank, who plays domestic cricket for Delhi, took 15 wickets in 6 matches in the Under-23 CK Naidu Trophy tournament. He took 5 wickets against Chhattisgarh. He also scored 66 runs in this match.

It is worth noting that Mayank Yadav was bought by Lucknow Super Giants in the 2022 Mega IPL auction for a price of 20 lakhs. But, he got injured before the 2023 IPL and was out of the entire season. But, after that Lucknow also gave him a chance to make his debut in 2024.
