In view of the increasing cases of Deepfake videos, Ashwini Vaishnav has said that a meeting will be held between government officials and major social media platforms in the next 3 to 4 days. In this meeting everyone will discuss the rules of deepfake videos and how they can be controlled.The Union Minister further said that if the platform fails to take adequate measures to prevent the spread of deepfakes, the security cover of Safe Harbor will be revoked. This means that exemptions for social media companies will be revoked

Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnav said that the government has sent a notice to all major social media companies asking them to take action on the deepfake videos on the platform and take necessary steps to remove them. The companies have replied to the notice and everyone is working on it, he said. was done and media organizations were asked to make people aware about it.He said the government is trying its best to legislate on AI and is also in discussions with Open AI on the issue

Big companies like Google and Meta will participate in this meeting. Ashwini Vaishnav said in a statement to the press that the companies are taking action on the notice sent by the government. But we feel there are many more steps to be taken and we will hold an all platform meeting soon… maybe the government will meet in the next 3-4 days. The meeting will consider all ideas and discuss how to reduce misuse of AI. There will also be a discussion on how AI can benefit humans.
