Stomach Cancer

People with BP are told to stop eating salt. But still they don’t listen. So, in that case, read those people a survey conducted by researchers at the University of Vienna. Because, it says, people who eat more salt have a higher risk of developing cancer.

Yes, you must be shocked too. So this is true. Let’s learn more about what the researchers studied, how they conducted the survey.

A recent study by the Center for Public Health Department of the University of Vienna. People in Britain who frequently add salt to their food have a higher risk of stomach cancer. Compared to people who eat less salt, the risk is 41 percent higher.

Previous research in China, Japan and Korea has linked eating more salt to stomach cancer. Although this survey is observational, previous research has suggested that high salt intake can weaken the protective lining of the stomach.

Weakening of the lining of the stomach results in damage to the intestines and body tissues. And it can turn into cancer.

Selma Kronsteiner-Gisevic, a nutritionist at the University of Vienna and leader of the study, said: “Our research shows a direct link between the high salt intake of people in the West and stomach cancer.

The FDA (Food and Drug Administration) has explained how much a product should enter the human body. According to them, no more than 2,300 mg of sodium per day should be consumed, which is about one tablespoon.

Because of the extra salt habit, the agency reports, the average American typically eats about 3,400 mg of salt per day. For example, one can of Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup contains approximately 890 mg of salt.

You can eat a little salt to add flavor to your mouth. But if it is excessive, it cannot prevent cancer.

For the study, researchers analyzed data from the UK Biobank, which included 471,144 adults in the United Kingdom. The study was conducted for about 11 years. During this time, they found that people who frequently added salt to their meals were 41 percent more likely to develop stomach cancer.

Alcohol and smoking greatly increase the risk of stomach cancer. This is what the American Cancer Society has said. They predict that there will be about 26,890 new cases of stomach cancer in the US in 2024, with about 10,880 deaths.
