इस साल पंचांग के अनुसार, कार्तिक मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की द्वितिया तिथि का आरंभ 14 नवंबर दोपहर 2 बजकर 36 मिनट से हो जाएगा और इस तिथि का समापन अगले दिन 15 नवंबर 1 बजकर 47 मिनट पर होगा. इस चलते 14 और 15 नवंबर दोनों ही दिन भाई दूज मनाया जा सकता है. Bhai Dooj can be celebrated from noon on Tuesday, 14th November. The auspicious time will start from 2:37 pm. On the day of Bhai Dooj, it is considered auspicious to meditate on Lord Yamraj and Mother Yamuna before applying Tilak to the brother. After this, tilak and rice are applied on the brother’s forehead and he is fed sweets. During this, sisters give dry coconut to brothers and brothers give gifts to sisters. Wearing black clothes on this day is not considered auspicious.
Why is Bhai Dooj celebrated?
It is believed that the story of Bhai Dooj is related to Yamraj and Mother Yamuna. According to mythology, both Yamraj and Mother Yamuna are children of Sun God and are siblings. There was immense love between both of them. After many years, when Yamraj came to meet his sister Yamuna, he prepared many dishes for his brother, applied tilak on his forehead and gave a coconut as a gift.After this, Yamraj asked his sister to ask for anything as a gift, to which mother Yamuna said that she only requests that Yamraj should come to meet her every year. Celebration of Bhai Dooj started from this day. It is believed that Yamraj comes to meet sister Yamuna on the day of Bhai Dooj.
