Andhra Train Accident: 8 Died and 40 Injured, 10 Lakh Compensation Announced For Died People's Family, A Human Error Could be Responsible

Two passenger trains, one en route to Rayagada and the other headed to Visakhapatnam, collided with each other in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district on Sunday.

The collision of the trains led to the derailment of bogies in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district.

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw spoke to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy and said that rescue operations are underway.

“PM Modi has reviewed the situation. I spoke to the Andhra Pradesh CM. The situation is currently under control,” he said.

11 coaches from front of 08532 Visakhapatnam – Palasa reached next Alamanda station. Train 08504 Visakhapatnam – Rayagada rear 9 coaches pulled back to the previous station, Kantakapalle.

Other than the derailed and affected coaches, all cleared from the site.

When Andhra Train Accident Happened?

The trains collided at around 7 pm on Sunday, following which two rear coaches of the Visakhapatnam-Palasa passenger train and the engine of the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada passenger train got derailed.

Vizianagaram District administration has said that atleast 40 people have been injured while four are said to be in critical condition. “Till now 40 persons injured. 32 have been shifted to Vizianagaram Government Hospital. 1 in Vishaka NRI Hospital, 2 in Medicover Hospital. 4 are in critical condition. All the injured are from Andhra Pradesh,” officials said as quoted by ANI.

A rescue operation is underway in Andhra’s Vizianagaram district, where two passenger trains collided on Sunday.

Railways Issued The List of Train’s Which Divert or Cancelled:

Railways has also issued list of trains which are Diverted/Cancelled/Short Terminated due to the train accident near Kantakapalle.

Compensation Announced to Injured and Died People in Andhra Train Accident:

the families of the people who died have started receiving compensation of Rs 10 lakh and people with grievous injuries and minor injuries have begun receiving compensation of Rs 2 lakh and Rs 50,000 respectively.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each for the families of those dead in the Andhra Pradesh train accident.

Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw said that all those who were injured in the Andhra Pradesh train accident had been shifted to hospitals.

How Andhra Train Accident is Happen?

East Coast Railway (ECoR) on Sunday said a human error could have resulted in the collision of two trains in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district.

“Likely reason: Human error. Overshooting of the signal by Visakhapatnam- Rayagada passenger train,” ECoR CPRO Biswajit Sahoo told reporters here.

While explaining the term overshooting, the CPRO said it occurs when a train, instead of stopping at a red signal, moves on.
