AI To Provide Information About Government Scheme

The government has planned for the next phase of digitization of public services with artificial intelligence (AI) to inform citizens about government schemes. An AI based platform will be created to inform people about government schemes. This platform will encourage people to avail their entitlement schemes.

A senior official of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology said, “Now citizens will not need to find out which schemes they are eligible for. Every needy person will know which scheme they are eligible for through AI.

The official said that different ministries have different plans. It is very important for the citizens to go to the website of different ministries and get information about the schemes. “But it will be easier for them to get information about the schemes of various ministries after logging into the AI-based platform,” the official said.

If a person has signed up for PM Ayushman Yojana, the AI based portal will ask them why they didn’t opt for PM Awas Yojana? Or if one has signed up for PM Awas Yojana, they will be prompted to sign up for Har Ghar Jal Yojana as well.

After the success of ‘India Stack’, the next phase of expansion of public services is being planned. Digital public infrastructure such as digital identity, payments and data management has been created under India Stack. The stack includes e-sign, digital locker, UPI etc.

India has signed agreements with 10 countries to connect its citizens across sectors and implement the ‘India Stack’. The official said, ‘Other 22 countries also want to sign MoUs with India, but services will have to be expanded for that.’

Regarding the regulation of the use of artificial intelligence, the official said that while AI has the potential to do a lot of good, it can also do some harm.

The official added, ‘Our basic thinking should be that we should move towards the use of AI in a responsible and ethical manner.
