India will play their first game at the famous Wankhede Stadium on November 2, when they face Sri Lanka. Ahead of Men in Blue’s first game at the 2011 World Cup final venue, BCCI will honour Sachin Tendulkar by installing a life-size statue outside the Wankhede Stadium on November 1.
The Mumbai Cricket Association will inaugurate cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s life-size statue, besides the Sachin Tendulkar Stand at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai by organizing a function on November 1, a day before the 2023 ODI World Cup match between India and Sri Lanka at the venue.
“Tendulkar’s statue will be erected on November 1. The inauguration of Tendulkar’s statue will be attended by Team India. Of course, Tendulkar will himself be present on the special occasion. We will reveal more details in a formal invite soon,” MCA president Amol Kale told TOI here on the sidelines of a press meet.
In February, MCA president Amol Kale had announced that the association was planning to erect a life-size statue of Tendulkar inside the Wankhede, in what will be a ‘special gift’ for the icon, who turned 50 this year, during the ODI World Cup.
