NIRF Ranking 2024
National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a ranking methodology adopted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India.
Best Colleges in India
In the ninth edition of the 2024 ranking released by the National Institutional Ranking Framework today, IIT Madras has been named the best higher education institution in the country, while IIT Mumbai has been ranked third. Pune’s Savitribai Phule Pune University has bagged the third position among the best state universities, while Symbiosis Law School, Pune has bagged the fifth position in this year’s top law institutes. IIT Mumbai has topped the innovation category.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework has been adopted by the Union Ministry of Education since 2015 to rank the top universities, colleges, higher education institutions in the fields of engineering, management and pharmacy in the country. Out of 58 thousand higher educational institutions in the country, 6,517 educational institutions participated in the ranking competition this year. There were 10,845 applications for various categories. Today, the ranking of higher education institutions was announced in the presence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. In the ninth edition of NIRF, three new categories namely State University, Open University, Skilled University were added.
